Red Bull is a non-alcoholic, high energy drink that has a unique formula. It is composed of taurine, glucuronolactone, carbohydrates and vitamins. Taurine is an essential amino acid, which naturally occurs in the body. During extreme physical exertion the body stops producing taurine and deficiencies can occur. Taurine acts as a metabolic transmitter and, in addition, it has a detoxifying effect and strengthens cardiac contractility. Glucuronolactone is a substance found in the body that accelerates the elimination of both endogenic and exogenic harmful substances. It has a detoxifying effect on the body. Carbohydrates are a known source of energy and Red Bull contains them almost exclusively in the form of sucrose and glucose. The energy value of a can of Red Bull is 480kj ( 112kcal ). There are five Vitamin Bs in Red Bull - B3, B5, B6, B8 and B12, which help the body maintain physical stamina. This mixture of vitamins and minerals allows the revitalisation of the body after strenous physical or mental activity thereby ensuring optimum work performance. Of all the energy drinks in the market, Red Bull is arguably the most potent in terms of formulation and efficacy.

Before the arrival of Red Bull in Malaysia and Singapore in the 1980s, most people had not even heard of energy drinks. When Red Bull commenced selling, there were only one or two players in the market but following their entry and the aggressive marketing and promotion campaigns, the Red Bull energy drink is now one of the leading brand in its market sector. Today, one in three Malaysians and Singaporeans have tried and consumed Red Bull. Red Bull created the market and from one small marketing team operating from south, spread throughout the country to record phenomenal growth in the early years. Today, there are few refreshment refrigerators in these 2 countries that do not have cans and bottles of Red Bull waiting for eager consumers. Red Bull bottle is now bottled in Shah Alam Malaysia and the bulk of the ingredients are sourced from within the country.
